Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive you your sins, and will defer you to an appointed term. Verily the term of Allah when it cometh shall not be deferred, if ye but knew. 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will send you abundant 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
