Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 that you serve Allah and fear Him, and follow me; 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret: 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 And He will add unto you riches and children and will appoint unto you gardens and will appoint unto you rivers. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
