Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 rain from the sky, 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
