Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
