Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 and [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection. 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
