Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 rain from the sky, 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' 20
