28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 He -- exalted be our Lord's majesty! has not taken to Himself either consort or a son. 3 The ignorant fool among us has spoken outrageously against Allah, 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”; 6 Like you, they thought that Allah would never raise the dead. 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: 10 and that “some of us are upright and some of us are otherwise for we follow widely divergent paths”; 11 And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: 14 but those who have deviated shall become the fuel of Gehenna (Hell). 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
