Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right. 4 'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah. 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 And indeed they supposed, even as ye suppose, that Allah would not raise anyone (from the dead) - 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: 10 And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 Hence, as soon as we heard this [call to His] guidance, we came to believe in it: and he who believes in his Sustainer need never have fear of loss or injustice. 13 ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam – it is they who have thought rightly.’ 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God. 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
