Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say: 'It has been revealed to me that a company of the jinn gave ear, then they said, "We have indeed heard a Koran wonderful, 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 We used to sit near by and try to listen to the heavens, but shooting flames now await those who try to do that. 9 we cannot tell if this bodes evil to those who dwell on earth or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.). 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 The places of worship belong to God; so call not, along with God, upon anyone. 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
