Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: 10 And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways. 11 And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 as a trial for them. God will make those who disregard the guidance from their Lord suffer increasing torment. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." 19
