Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 and that “some of us are upright and some of us are otherwise for we follow widely divergent paths”; 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force. 13 And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 so as to test them by this means: for he who shall turn away from the remembrance of his Sustainer, him will He cause to undergo suffering most grievous. 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
