Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; 4 and that [we were mistaken when] we thought that neither man nor [any of] the invisible forces would ever tell a lie about God. 5 But there were certain men from mankind who would take refuge with certain males from the jinn and they increased them in tyranny. 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 We sought to pry into the secrets of the heavens, but found it full of fierce guards and shooting flames. 8 We used to sit near by and try to listen to the heavens, but shooting flames now await those who try to do that. 9 And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 Had they (jinn and mankind) remained steadfast in their religion (Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water to drink 16 That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). 17 And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
