Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 A half of it or a little less 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
