In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
