In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 Or increase a little upon it, and recite the Qur’an slowly in stages. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
