Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 A half of it or a little less 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
