Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 on the Day the earth and mountains shall shake and the mountains crumble into shifting sand dunes. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
