The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 Pollution shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
