The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 arise, and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
