The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
