The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 Pollution shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
