The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And your clothing purify 4 And pollution shun. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And children present [with him] 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
