The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And pollution shun. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
