The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 it will be a hard day 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
