The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
