The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked round; 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
