The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 thy robes purify 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
