The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 and purify your clothing, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked around, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
