The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your robes, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
