The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
