The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And children present [with him] 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
