The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and who still desires more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
