The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 May he be condemned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
