The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he thought; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
