The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And your garments do purify, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
