The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 it will be a hard day 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 May he be condemned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
