I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Of evil-doers: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
