Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when it departs, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to humans, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
