Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to humankind, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
