Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
