Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning for people -- 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
