Nay, by the Moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 About the guilty: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
