Nay, by the Moon 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who will be in Paradise 40 About the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
