Nay! By the moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
