Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who will be in Paradise 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
