Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 a warning to humankind, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
