No! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 a warning to humankind, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
