I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 About the criminals, 41 "What took you into the hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor used to feed the needy." 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were startled donkeys - 50 running away from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books like the prophets. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
