I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 by the retreating night, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
