Nay, by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 in Gardens they will question 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 running away from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
